How do you respond to one-word texts?

One-word texts are frustrating, but the worst thing you can do is mirror that energy. Sending back your own one-word reply just kills the conversation faster. Instead, try asking something unexpected that breaks the pattern.

A random hypothetical question, a funny observation, or a reference to something you talked about before can snap them out of autopilot mode. If they keep giving you nothing to work with after a few tries, it might be a sign they are not that interested or they are just a bad texter.

Either way, do not burn yourself out trying to carry things alone. Put the ball in their court and see if they step up. Your energy is worth more than a string of "lol" and "cool" replies.
